Laurie Ament uses the century old process of lampworking to create intricate glass beads and pendants in the shape of fish, seahorses, mini bottles, and various other unique shapes! She uses this technique of using soft glass rods (most from Italy) which are then torch melted over an open flame and applied around a steel mandrel rod. She uses techniques such as raking, encasing with transparent glass , dot designs and layering the colors to create the beads. The beads are then brought back to room temperature in a kiln to ensure the stability of the glass and carefully cleaned before being made into her one of a kind jewelry pieces.
We are fortunate to be able to bring her beads to the people of The People’s Market. Stop in to see these beautiful pieces of work. They are really quite incredible!
